(I'm not sure if what I'm writing below breaks any sort of netiquette rules concerning blogging, but I'm sure I'll soon find out, when somebody tells me.)

My first entry was unclear as to why the_g_man would make me want to start my own blog. Well more details are below:

A quick browse through his livejournal, reveals that Geoff indeed has an interesting life. In fact, enough to be a creative inspiration to me. His livejournal is elegantly written and easy to read, yet at the same time extremely informative as to the goings-on in Geoff's life and mind.

However the fact that this information is in the public domain has caused some disturbance for some....

"Who?" I hear you ask. Well, of course I'm not at liberty to divulge such information. Suffice it to say that these parties, in fits of curiousity, took the opportunity to explore, investigate and pick apart Geoff's journal and were shocked by what they found. A litany of the ravings of Geoff's psyche involving none other than themselves!!! An example of these can be found here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/the_g_man/2004/12/14/

Their immediate reaction was along the lines of threatening legal action, but as this is not realistically feasible, we have to look at other ways of calming the storm. Step 1, I am going to ask the_g_man in the nicest possible way to keep the logging of his desires concerning these parties under-5s friendly. In this way they won't know what he is thinking, and I wont need to dispense impromptu legal advice as to the feasibility of a law suit citing the infringement of their human rights. Step 2, I haven't devised yet, but I'm that sort of guy...

Does the facility exist to put a vote on these things?

    Til next time.

Welcome to the Qboid web log
Hello all, and welcome to the first entry in my web log. Those of you that know me, will know that this sort of web-based behavior is uncharacteristic of me and will be wondering why I am doing this. So that seems like a good place to start....

There are two people who are responsible for driving me to these desperate measures:

Firstly, Phil, Physics PhD student (you can see his complete personal history here : http://www.symes.net/), made me spend a couple of late nights playing FreeCiv (http://www.freeciv.org/), an open-source Civilization game, with him, while conversing on SkyPE (http://www.skype.com/) for over 5 hours a night. However he has been offline for the previous 3 days, meaning that internet withdrawal symptoms are kicking in for me and I need to vent my connectivity requirements at another outlet. Also he has been greatly disturbed by the fact that our mutual friend Charles (author of this book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0754109739/ref=rm_item) has recently got himself a girlfriend. This is a feat previously thought impossible by many of the world's greatest minds, so is obviously depressing to someone who is willing to play games online until 4:30 in the morning. (Not me, but Phil..)

Secondly, Geoff, the_g_man, (http://www.livejournal.com/users/the_g_man/) had previously told me to start a livejournal page, but I point blanked refused. (Or rather, I said I would, then didn't.) However I have now, albeit with an entirely different motivation. Apparently his handle/nickname/alter ego or whatever you call it, is also the name of a porn star. I had no idea... and also no idea that the person who told me would be into that sort of thing. There will be more on Geoff in a later log.

Moving on, aside from the two characters above, it is also Boxing Day night, and I don't really have much else to do, and that must be a good a reason as any to start your own blog!

Anyway, I think that is a good first effort, so will finish here and start a new entry.
